COTN Hunger Campaign 2008

Overview

Meal Marathon (May 16th in Silverdale, WA)
Each May during our annual Hunger Campaign, COTN hosts Meal Marathons across the U.S. During this event volunteers in local communities participate in our food packaging program to prepare meals to be shipped overseas.

Coin Banks
Business owners can provide an opportunity for people to donate spare change to COTN’s Feeding Program. Through our feeding program, twenty-five cents feeds a child.

Food Packaging
We provide the opportunity for packaging events year round as well! Churches, civic groups, schools, and communities have all raised money and participated in feeding our children internationally.

Ready Relief
This school-based disaster preparedness program allows children to participate firsthand by packaging food to be stored on-site for use in the event of a natural disaster. If the food is not used by the following year, COTN sends it overseas to feed our children and the school packages new food to be stored for the following year.

Hunger Experience
A youth- or civic-group based curriculum that raises awareness of world hunger while at the same time raising funds for the Meal Marathon or food packaging. The Hunger Experience culminates with a “Famine Feast” in which teens participate in a World Food Distribution simulation after they have completed a 24-hour fast.
